WiPC Congress Resolutions – PEN Centres Survey

  • 1 min read

Congress resolutions put forward by the Writers in Prison Committee (WiPC) and adopted at Congress in recent years have addressed key challenges affecting freedom of expression and the protection of writers, including threats to civic space, criminal defamation and Strategic Lawsuits Against Public Participation (SLAPPs), and protection mechanisms for writers at risk. These issues remain highly relevant and continue to require collective attention and action across the PEN network.

In the lead up to the 92nd Annual PEN International Congress (29–30 September 2026), we would like to better understand how PEN Centres have engaged with WiPC Congress resolutions, including activities undertaken, ongoing initiatives and future priorities.

We would be grateful if you could complete the following survey by 7 September 2026: https://forms.gle/ssV5Qm2fojbR4EHW7

Your responses will help inform discussions during the WiPC online meeting on 22 September 2026 and support future implementation, collaboration, and assistance across the PEN network.

We look forward to your feedback,

Thida

Chair of the Writers in Prison Committee
